Why We Need Volunteers

The Center is a volunteer-run enterprise – basically, we’re just a bunch of people who want to see the Chesapeake healthy again – that operates on a very small budget.  By volunteering at PWEC, you’re working toward a cleaner bay and you’re becoming part of a community that cares deeply about the environment. The time that you donate helps PWEC demonstrate community involvement, which in turn can help our grant applications.

How Volunteers Can Help

We need volunteers to help out in all the work the Center performs, including administration,membership services, public relations, visitor services, and education and science advocacy. 

If you are interested in volunteering, we could really use your skills.  Whatever time you could give us would be great. Just a few hours a month will help protect our air, land and water. Can you lend a hand? There are lots of ways that you could help. Here are just a few:

• Come feed the animals  
• Help us maintain our database by entering in new contacts or tracking who we have talked to
• Become a regular visitors' center host - and keep PWEC open to the public Thursday through Monday
• Reach out to your friends, family and neighbors to get them involved with PWEC
• Seek out retail items that are Chesapeake Bay related and could be sold by PWEC
• Research or write grants to support PWEC programs
• Friend us on Facebook and make us your favorite page
• Help clean and maintain aquariums and touch tanks  

This is a small list and there are so many ways you could help.  Save the Bay Today...and Tomorrow!
